"Christians are like manure. Pile it up and it just stinks to high heaven. Spread it around and it fertilizes whole fields." (taken from Rubel Shelly)

Though not the most flattering metaphor, it probably hits many of our ministries pretty hard. We've been talking about resolutions recently...I resolve to be more of a fertilizer this year...instead of a stinker!

    Great quote!!

There definitely should be a fragrance to us as Christians, as long as it's not a repeling odor.

What a great quote! I love it, especially for middle schoolers.

It fits with the Bible too.

Deut. 23:12 Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad: 13 And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee

I did a whole retreat on that one.

Our ministry tries to balance 'outreach' and 'growth'. We even have seperate budget lines for each to help us in that purpose. But how much of our outreach is making an impact. How much of our outreach really 'goes out?'
